Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain condition that affects more than 5 million men and women in the United States—particularly individuals who are over the age of 65. Common symptoms of the condition include severe memory loss, delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, difficulty learning new things, difficulty recognizing loved ones, inability to perform everyday tasks, and impulsive behavior. At present, there is no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease. As a result, the condition will ultimately prove to be fatal.
